Temple Terrace has become an attractive area for immigrants from the Middle East.  There are several clusters of Middle Eastern markets.  Two of the largest Islamic schools and Mosques in Florida are in Temple Terrace.  All of these "comforts of home" are esential elements in the rising population in the area. 

What is Being Done?

Mayor Affronti met with 25 Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) members who live in Temple Terrace, and are working hard to bring the community together.  He encouraged them to come to City Council meetings and be a part of city government.  Just recently, some of these CAIR members were appointed to the School Support Community Council.  It was stated at one of the these meetings that the Muslim population in Temple Terrace may be as high as 20% of the total residents.
